Solar Cup

Solar Cup is the nation’s largest solar-powered boat competition. High school students throughout Southern California participate in this competition that takes place each May at Lake Skinner in Temecula. Solar Cup is a great opportunity for high school students to develop their leadership and communication skills while learning about water and the environment. Additionally, they are able to increase their knowledge in the areas of engineering, math and science.

Each year Central Basin sponsors up to four teams throughout our service area. Our teams have consistently fared well in the Solar Cup competition.
